Master studies

The Department offers higher education in classical biotechnologies with a modern approach,  including brewing, distilleries, and winemaking as well as the production of vinegar and other substances through the fermentation. It additionally provides instruction in modern fields of bioengineering and biotechnologies such as pharmaceutical production, environmental protection, and alternative fuel production.

The Department offers a Master Degree Programmes in English

Programm Biotechnology and Food Science

The programme prepares graduates to become experts with high-level knowledge in biotechnologies and bioingeneering and food science, with an emphasis on food quality and safety. The broadly designed structure of this programme - together with intentional connection between chemical, biological, and engineering education - opens a wide range of career options to graduates. The programme extends and deepens general knowledge gained at the Bachelor level in biochemistry, organic and physical chemistry, biology, microbiology, food technology and analysis, and in the fundamentals in biotechnology and bioengineering. Students may hone their expertise by properly choosing elective courses.

  • For students researching thesis at Department of Biotechnology:
    • Regarding Discussion part - while it is possible to prepare joint version of Results and Discussion, the preferred variant is to prepare separate Discussion part having 3 page minimum extent.
    • Mandatory part of the thesis is the Thesis Assignment signed by the Faculty dean. Please visit our Department secretariat (building A, room 111) and ask Mrs. Hana Kasparkova for this document.
