Náš ústav nabízí vysokoškolské vzdělání v bakalářskýchmagisterskýchdoktorských studijních programech v rámci moderně pojatých klasický biotechnologií, jako jsou pivovarství, lihovarství a vinařství, produkce octa a dalších látek kvasnou cestou tak i moderní obory bioinženýrství a biotechnologií jako jsou výroba léčiv, ochrana životního prostředí, produkce alternativních paliv.

Vědecko-výzkumné aktivity ústavu jsou soustředěny na studium biotechnologických procesů v celé jejich šíři – počínaje chováním biologického činitele, studium jednotkových operací uplatňujících se v moderních biotechnologiích, včetně down-stream processingu, bioinženýrských aspektů a modelování a simulace bioprocesů až po aplikace biotechnologických procesů v potravinářském, farmaceutickém, biotechnologickém či chemickém průmyslu nebo při ochraně životního prostředí.

S našimi tuzemskými i zahraničními průmyslovými i výzkumnými partnery spolupracujeme na širokém spektru společných projektů zahrnujícím základní výzkum a aplikovaný výzkum, zvětšování měřítka technologií, řešení technologických problémů výrob a to formou grantové spolupráce nebo zakázek. Nedílnou součástí této spolupráce je i zapojení studentů všech studijních stupňů do řešení těchto projektů a tím zásadní zkvalitnění jejich vzdělání.
